I'm Tanner.

I enjoy tinkering with and building electronics, working on my network and homelab, and building fun software.
When I'm not at a computer, I enjoy hiking, biking, and running around Colorado, and traveling all over the world.
Experience
I currently work as the Subject Matter Expert for the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) constellation of communications satellites. I have over 2 years of experience in React.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB through a bootcamp with Galvanize, Inc, follow-on internship, and practical experience gained through my work with the US Space Force.

Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) Subject Matter Expert

- I serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system, advising command staff and system operators on enterprise-scale satellite communications. Led major GSCCE system updates and configuration rollouts, proactively improving reliability across global ops centers.
- Diagnosed and resolved complex failures involving PostgreSQL databases, virtual machines, SFTP services, and spacecraft channelizers, restoring full operations and implementing long-term safeguards.
Software Engineering Intern

- I utilized cloud computing solutions through the DoD DevSecOps PaaS Platform One to develop software utilizing React.js, Express.js, MongoDB, Gitlab, Jira, SonarQube, Docker, Kubernetes, and more.
- I worked with the Space Force Software Factory Space CAMP on the Delta Analysis Reporting and Tracking System (DARTS) program. I performed code reviews, managed DevSecOps pipelines, and coordinated with UI/UX designers, project managers, and outside agencies to write software that met external stakeholder requirements. DARTS is used by over 500 military and government personnel in day-to-day operations.
Telecommunications Specialist

- I led a Scrum-based software development team of 5 for the 53d Space Operations Squadron. We Designed, developed, and deployed a cloud-based reporting tool for U.S. Military SATCOM, ensuring seamless integration on DoD Networks. Thousands of users across U.S. Military SATCOM now utilize the tool.
- I developed various programs and tools to substantially increase operational efficiency using Visual Basic for Applications, Java, and Python; I implemented and maintained programs utilizing these languages that saw use at 2 sites.
